COC Amsterdam and surroundings strives for emancipation with regards to sexual and gender diversity (LGBTIQ+) in the larger Amsterdam region. We are convinced that emancipation and acceptance are achieved in two ways: on the one hand, by being visible in a positive way in society and in daily life as LGBTIQ+ people, on the other by empowering LGBTIQ+ people and by offering opportunities to meet for those who don’t want to or cannot be visible (yet).
In this way, COC Amsterdam e.o. strives for an Amsterdam where LGBTIQ+ residents and visitors have the freedom to be themselves, and where this is also visible. To make this possible, COC Amsterdam e.o. itself as a movement where change mainly comes from doing. COC Amsterdam e.o. is a collective of 120 volunteers and over 1600 members where own initiative, motivation and responsibility are central.
