The Amsterdam Museum brings the history of Amsterdam to life and provides insight into the identity of the city; the museum challenges residents and visitors to deepen their relationship with the city.
Queering the Collections is part of our New Narratives program line. We pay attention to sexual and gender diversity through programming based on co-creation, participation and hosting. The Amsterdam Museum supports the partners from Queer Network Amsterdam by collaborating with public programming and involving the partners in collection building.
In this way there is not only visibility of LGBTIQ+ perspectives, experiences, histories, pioneers and role models during public programming, but we also capture important stories for the future through collection building. In this way we contribute to the de-normalization of the current dominant perspective.
