Voices of Resistance - What You See Festival
Collectives Arts of Resistance and Papaya Kuir join forces! Especially for What You See, they create a unique evening full of decolonial voices. With artists, artisans and activists from the Global South, they dismantle the ongoing impact of colonialism.
Invitees from Asia to Latin America come together and show their fighting spirit, strength and resistance. A mini-festival with performances, exhibitions, workshops, live music, conversations and rituals. Including performances by Anima Ruissen and Papaya Kuir, a panel discussion led by Alejandra Ortiz, live music by Marikit Saturay, Una Nota Perdida and Pravini Baboeram. DJs Ivicore, Polemik and Eurowitch end the evening with an epic party.

Rhizobia: Esther & The Law, Incl. Q&A
Rhizobia is a forward-thinking series in which we will explore various, prescient environmental issues and global perspectives on climate change through the spectre of film. The vast majority of environmental news stories are negative in nature, mostly given the conventional wisdom that increasing people’s concern or even fear of climate change are effective triggers for panic-stricken action. This series seeks to contest this notion by creating a space in which alarm overlaps with hope, knowledge and contemplative observation.
Rhizobia is a collaboration between LAB111, Stichting Art.1 and Gemeente Amsterdam Stadsdeel West.
All shows can be visited for free when having Stadspas: Groene stip. If you want to make a reservation, please contact us via reserveren@lab111 or give us a call: 020 616 9994.

Queer City: Decolonizing Kink & Anniversary
Kink is commonly seen and used just as an umbrella term for sexual and sensual practices, but kink has been used for generations in different cultures as a healing and empowering practice. For this edition of Queercity we are ready to break all preconceived and heteronormative ideas of kink and give space to re-discover kink as a liberation tool.
Let your fears and taboos go and join us in this evening full with sensual performances, erotic poetry, healing rituals, and intimate conversations with members of our community that have chosen kink as a way to reclaim their Queer bodies.
With this Queer City we are also celebrating our two year anniversary, so join us and help us keep creating accessible spaces for BIPOC Queer and Trans people.
